At August’s First Tuesday Celebration of Local Food and Flavors at GreenLeaf Market the winning St. Louis artists were announced and given cash prizes. $500 in cash was given away to the audience’s choices for best artist for the month of July. Paulette Sankofa and John King won $100 each, and Clareatha Swilley won $300. GreenLeaf Market proudly supports the local NorthSide St. Louis community and realizes that art brings community together.

The local food theme of August is eggplant, green peppers, and zucchini. These vegetables are in season and GreenLeaf Market has them for sale in our produce department!

Chef Matt made three dishes that included locally grown, seasonal, vegetables. Free samples were given out of traditional macaroni salad (with Missouri grown green peppers), grilled vegetable salad (with locally grown zucchini and green peppers), and grilled local eggplant. You can buy these homemade, homegrown, dishes in our deli, or ask Chef Matt for the recipes (we will be posting them soon, so you don’t need to ask).
